Summary:

The Ballot Box Officer (BBO) oversees the ballot box in the voting location. The BBO sets up the ballot box and assists voters with inserting their ballot, if required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist voters with casting their ballot
  • Check ballots to ensure they are issued by their DRO
  • Securing the ballot box and other material between voting days, as required
  • Assist with counting ballots and account for all materials at the end of voting

Specific Skills:

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with the public
  • Able to follow instructions and checklists
  • Ability to use good judgement and tact when dealing with voters
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Able to stand and work for long stretches of time (up to 13 hours)
  • Able to learn quickly, follow directions, and complete repetitive tasks

Availability:

  • Available to complete a one-hour online training session provided by Elections SK (Period of October 13 to October 20)
  • Available to work 13 hours on each of the six voting days (October 22 to 26, October 28)
