October 20, 2014 – A door-to-door enumeration is underway in the constituency of Lloydminster.
The purpose of the enumeration is to identify and register all constituency residents who are eligible to vote. Enumerators go door-to-door to all urban and rural homes in the constituency and ask a few questions regarding eligibility to vote such as a date of birth and citizenship.
“This week, we’ll have roughly 40 election workers going door-to-door in the constituency, collecting the names of eligible voters so we can compile a list of voters for the by-election,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Saskatchewan’s Chief Electoral Officer and head of Elections Saskatchewan, the provincial election management body. “Having an accurate list speeds up the voting process on by-election day, which is November 13, 2014 in the constituency of Lloydminster.”
A voters guide will be dropped off by enumerators to all households in the constituency. If an enumerator misses a voter, a “Sorry we missed you card” is left in their mailbox with instructions on how to get added to the list.
Eligible voters who are unable to vote on by-election day or at an advance voting day may request an absentee voter application from their enumerator. This allows voters to vote by mail. An absentee voter application must be returned to the local returning office, 4417 50th Avenue, Lloydminster, by November 5.
Residents of the constituency of Lloydminster are eligible to vote if they are:
At least 18 years of age on Thursday, November 13, 2014;
A Canadian citizen;
A Saskatchewan resident for at least the six months before Thursday, October 16, 2014, and
Ordinarily a resident of the constituency of Lloydminster.
In addition, you are eligible to vote if you are a British subject who was qualified as a voter on June 23, 1971 and you meet the above residency requirements.

It takes people to run elections, not only for enumerating, but for helping in the local returning office and then culminating in working in the 17 voting places across the constituency of Lloydminster on November 13. In between general elections, a by-election is held to replace an MLA who has left the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan before the end of their term. This happened in the constituency of Lloydminster in September 2014.
