See below for an update on three upcoming by-elections and news on 2018 Expense Limits.

Upcoming By-Elections

With Premier Brad Wall stepping down, effective January 31, 2018, as MLA for the constituency of Swift Current, we can now expect three by-elections: Kindersley, Melfort and Swift Current.

Per legislation, a by-election in Kindersley must be held by March 1. A by-election in Melfort must be held not later than May 13, and a Swift Current by-election must be held by the end of July. At Elections Saskatchewan, we will continue to prepare for each of these events while also making progress on planning for our next general election, scheduled for November 2, 2020.

2018 Expense Limits

As I have communicated to you over the past month or so, my office has been working to finalize the 2018 expense limits for candidates and registered political parties. These calculations are now complete and the final numbers have been posted on the Elections SK website. You can find them at https://www.elections.sk.ca/expenselimits. If you have questions about these limits or anything else within the topic of political finance, please contact Jennifer Colin at 306.787.4061 or [email protected].

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Boda
Chief Electoral Officer
Province of Saskatchewan
