New Registered Political Party & ELMS Update

Wexit Saskatchewan added to Register of Political Parties

Earlier today, I informed the organizers of Wexit Saskatchewan that their application under sections 224 and 225 of The Election Act, 1996 fully complied with the legislation. I have added Wexit Saskatchewan to the register of political parties effective March 10.

As a registered political party, Wexit Saskatchewan will be able to incur expenses, solicit and receive contributions, participate in the Province’s political contributions tax credit regime, and field candidates for election to the Legislative Assembly.

ELMS Update

ELMS (Electoral Management System), our online filing application, will be available for chief official agents and business managers by the end of the day on March 11, 2020. ELMS has been recently updated to include audit functionality as well as to account for changes required as a result of legislative amendments made in Bill 202 (see my previous Communique for a summary of those changes).

The business managers of any potential candidates registered with Elections Saskatchewan will receive an email with a link to the application as well as their user account information. Our Corporate Services and Electoral Finance team will also be reaching out to parties and business managers to offer ELMS training. Please note that ELMS is configured for an October 26, 2020 election date – should that date change, ELMS will be updated.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Boda
Chief Electoral Officer
Province of Saskatchewan
