By-Election Called

This morning, I received an order from the Lieutenant Governor in Council instructing me to issue a writ of election to our returning officer in the Constituency of Saskatoon Meewasin. As was the case during the recent general election, my office will email a copy of the writ to the returning officer with the physical document to follow.

An election calendar listing key dates is attached. If you would like hard copies of this calendar, please email Richard Hall, Research Analyst, at [email protected].

Updates to Register of Political Parties

As was the case during the April general election, Section 226 of The Election Act, 1996 requires registered political parties to update (or confirm) the information contained in the register of political parties within ten days of a writ of election being issued. This statement must be in writing and must be signed by the party leader. The leader can also designate a representative to endorse a candidate. Please ensure your party meets the Monday, February 13 deadline. These statements can be emailed to Jennifer Colin; a hard copy is not necessary.

Throughout the writ period, I will be in routine contact with you, as Chief Official Agent of your party, through these Communiques. Should you have questions, please don’t hesitate to be in contact with me or with my office. We are here to assist you and clarify the process for you. I want to wish you, your parties, and your candidates, the very best throughout this by-election.

Dr. Michael Boda
