August 16, 2017 – Nominations of candidates are now being accepted for the constituency of Saskatoon Fairview by-election on September 7, 2017.

Per Section 31 of The Election Act, 1996, nomination day for candidates must be a minimum of 16 days before polling day and must not be on a Sunday or a holiday. Nomination papers must be filed with that candidate’s constituency returning officer before 2:00 p.m. on nomination day, August 22, 2017.

To qualify as a candidate in the Saskatoon Fairview by-election, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age on September 7, 2017;
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Have lived in Saskatchewan for at least six months before the day the by-election was called (which is February 11, 2017);

After determining your eligibility:

  • you file nomination papers that must include the signatures of at least four voters in the Saskatoon Fairview constituency, and
  • pay a $100 nomination deposit.
