February 9, 2022. Advance voting at six locations in the provincial constituency of Athabasca begins at noon today.
Advance voting will be held the next five days, February 9 to 13, from noon to 8 p.m. each day. Advance voting turnout will be posted on our website daily at www.elections.sk.ca/athabasca.

“Voting safely remains our priority, as it was in the 2020 general election,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan. “Our pandemic protocols include all election workers wearing masks, and voters are required to do the same, either bringing their own mask or using a mask provided at the door. Physical distancing will be in place, as will clear dividers between workers and voters. Voting places will be cleaned throughout the day, and single-use pencils and sanitizer will be offered.”
To vote in this by-election, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old and have lived in Saskatchewan for at least the past six months. You must show ID at the polls to vote. A list of acceptable ID is at www.elections.sk.ca/id.
Elections Saskatchewan estimates a total of 10,373 eligible voters in Athabasca, with 9,277 registered voters as of the close of registration on February 4, 2022. Voters not registered can still vote by registering in-person when they arrive at a voting place during advance voting or on by-election day, February 15.
In the 2020 provincial general election, a total of 1,070 voters cast a ballot during the five days of advance voting in Athabasca. Combine this number with votes cast on election day, and a total of 3,046 ballots were counted in Athabasca in 2020.

ESK directs and supervises the administration of provincial electoral events including Saskatchewan’s next general election, scheduled, by legislation, for October 28, 2024.
