September 5, 2014 – Saskatchewan’s election management body is moving ahead as planned with its 2014-2016 Strategic Plan.

Elections Saskatchewan held a one-day review and progress report of the plan, involving all head office staff and the nine supervisory returning officers from across the province.

“A key part of any plan is to regularly go back and review that plan, to look at its goals, objectives and measurements, and to ensure that you are on track and delivering the intended results,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Saskatchewan’s Chief Electoral Officer and head of Elections Saskatchewan, the provincial election management body.

“The review we held on September 5 reinforced our vision to be widely recognized as a professional, service-oriented and innovative election management body. Delivering the 28th General Election, whether that’s in November 2015 or April 2016, which meets the vision we’ve set requires a different kind of commitment from our team than perhaps we’re used to.

“I was very impressed with how engaged our head office and senior field leadership staff are in understanding their individual roles in achieving our vision and delivering on the numerous tactics of the plan.”

Besides delivering on the strategic plan, another next step for Elections Saskatchewan is to organize election readiness sessions for head office staff starting this fall and continuing through the winter. The focus of these sessions is to have our team members consider what it takes to carry out an election. This includes the beginning phase of an overview of the election process, and leading up to identifying all election deliverables and milestones.

“The review we held, and these future readiness sessions, support the underlying commitment that our institution is making to improve the delivery of all electoral events that fall under our responsibility,” says Dr. Boda.

Elections Saskatchewan is the province’s independent, impartial, professional election management body. Given a mandate from the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, it organizes, manages and oversees provincial electoral events.
