Elections Saskatchewan is excited to launch Be Vote Ready, a new classroom activity for grades 11 and 12 teachers and students. It is short, easy to use, and helps build a vibrant democracy.

Voting is the lifeblood of a healthy democracy. Yet participation has declined in recent elections. One of the barriers to participation is the assumption that many first-time voters make that voting is difficult. It is not. In the last provincial election, held during a pandemic, 76 per cent of voters reported that it took less than 10 minutes to vote, and 94 per cent of voters were satisfied with how long it took to vote.

Be Vote Ready demystifies the voting process. It can be completed in less than 10 minutes. It also helps students take the first step to voting by having them register in real-time on their smartphones or laptop computers. It can easily be incorporated into existing curriculum or be used as a standalone activity at the beginning or end of a lesson.
