Summary:
Information Officers (IO) serve as the first contact for voters arriving at a polling place, greeting voters and directing them to the proper voting station. This position requires no previous experience, and is suitable for workers under 18, and non-Canadian citizens.
Responsibilities:
- Helps set up inside and outside of polling location
- Greet voters as they arrive, check if they are at the correct voting location
- Provide assistance to voters in entering or exiting the polling place, as needed
- Assist with taking down all materials in polling place and packing all supplies
Specific Skills:
- Able to remain polite and courteous when dealing with voters
- Good communication skills
- Able to work and stand for long stretches of time (up to 13 hours)
- Knowledge of voting process is an asset
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Availability:
- Available to complete a 1 hour on-line course. (period of October 13 to October 20)
- Available to work 13 hours on last day of voting (October 28), or 13 hours on each of the 5 early voting days (October 22 to October 26)
