An Information Officer (IO) is responsible for helping to set up and take down voting locations.  While voting locations are open, they are also responsible for assisting electors in determining if they are eligible to vote, if they are registered and for directing them to the correct voting station.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with setting up voting locations (setting up tables, hanging posters, placing chairs, etc)
  • Greet voters as they arrive at the voting location
  • Assist with maintaining peace and order in the voting place
  • Assist the Supervisory Deputy Returning Officer as required
  • Assist with removing any supplies and election material at the close of voting

Specific Skills:

  • Able to follow instructions and checklists and complete repetitive tasks
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with the public
  • Have strong communications skills
  • Have map reading skills
  • Able to work for long stretches of time (up to 13 hours)
